Sedation Dentistry in Sterling Heights, MI

Forget Your Dental Fears

Dental anxiety is a common condition that prevents millions of patients from visiting the dentist each year and getting the proper care they need. At Sterling Height Dentistry, we don’t want anyone’s oral health to suffer due to dental fears, which is why we offer sedation dentistry to help our patients feel at ease during their time in the treatment chair.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is utilized to help patients relax during their dental procedures and minimize any feeling of pain or discomfort. Dental sedation can help patients who feel afraid or anxious and is useful for people who are sensitive to the sights, sounds, or feelings of dental work.

At Sterling Heights Dentistry, we offer nitrous oxide. Our dental team will ensure that you feel comfortable and safe throughout your procedure, so you can relax while we take care of your beautiful smile.

Safe Sedation Methods

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as laughing gas, is the most common and mild sedation used for patients with dental anxiety or moderate dental procedures. This form of sedation is administered through a mask, putting patients into a relaxed state while minimizing any pain.

Nitrous oxide can be used for both children and adults safely with no side effects. Our professional dental team will monitor you throughout the procedure, ensuring you or your child are safe and comfortable during treatment.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is administered in a pill that can be taken prior to your appointment. This form of sedation won’t put you to sleep, but you’ll be much less aware of your surroundings while in a deep state of relaxation.

Time will pass by quickly under oral conscious sedation and your appointment will be over in no time. The sedation may take a while to wear off, so you’ll need someone you trust to safely drive you home.

*Sterling Heights Dentistry doesn’t offer oral conscious sedation.

General Anesthesia

General anesthesia uses a combination of inhaled gases and intravenous medications to make patients completely unconscious. This type of sedation is used for patients undergoing oral surgery. With general anesthesia, a registered anesthesiologist will administer the sedative.

Our Sterling Heights dental team takes extra precautions with general anesthesia and always follows the guidelines to ensure a safe and comfortable procedure.

*Sterling Heights Dentistry doesn’t offer general anesthesia.
